I Am the Avalanche

22 years into their career, I AM THE AVALANCHE are making the most powerful music of their lives. Returning with the announcement of their fifth studio album, THE HORROR SHOW, the Brooklyn punk rock cornerstones deliver an album forged in grief, courage, and the refusal to stand still. It’s the sound of a band walking through fire and emerging scarred but unbowed. Across eleven tracks, I AM THE AVALANCHE explore friendship, mortality, love, and resilience with the same urgency that has fueled them since day one — but this time drawn from a deeper emotional well than ever before. Written over five years in Brooklyn, Virginia, Nevada, Northern California, New Jersey, and on countless flights between those points, the process was shaped by constantly shifting circumstances. But when it came to recording, the album found its home. Produced, engineered, and mixed by their drummer Brett Romnes at Barbershop Studios — a converted 19th century church perched on the shore of Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey — the band captured the album over ten visits. The result is their most expansive and textural record yet. Historically masters of a two-minute punk song, this time they dive deeper in tribute to both their growth and their loss. Out of that tribute comes a duality: THE HORROR SHOW holds grief and celebration side by side. Set for release on April 10, 2026, THE HORROR SHOW will be carried across the world as I AM THE AVALANCHE join tours in support before heading out on their own.
