About
んoon (hoon [huːn]) is a progressive soul band featuring JC(vo.), Ken(key.), Naoto(ba.), and Yuko(harp) from Tokyo, Japan. Formed in 2014 as an instrumental trio of harp, keyboard, and bass, んoon evolved into a genre-defying band in 2016 with the addition of vocalist JC. Their sound blends elements of noise, free jazz, hip-hop, soul, punk, choir, and electronica, creating a rich and unpredictable sonic palette. The band’s name, derived from the Japanese word hoon—a casual expression of curiosity or indifference—adds a playful twist by incorporating the hiragana character “ん,” giving it a uniquely Japanese yet universally intriguing identity. Each member brings their ideas freely to the table, resulting in a collaborative, boundary-pushing sound that thrives on spontaneity and individuality. This openness fosters a dynamic energy that feels fresh, bold, and endlessly exploratory.
